1. Job-hopping can be overlooked.
More people are transitioning between roles and industries after the pandemic inspired and created a need for change. Thus, transitory resumes, gig work and job-hopping are more common.
2. Certification programs aren’t always helpful.
Certification programs and online training can be useful ways to gain skills for certain industries, but they are not always accepted by employers and can be irrelevant. Do research before spending time and money on programs that may not be useful in the job hunt.
3. Being valued is more important than ever.
Many are leaving their jobs not just because of pay, but because they don’t feel respected by their employers. Staffing shortages and stress from the pandemic have overstretched some companies, which respond by overworking and underappreciating the workers who stay, inevitably driving them away, too.
4. Loyalty is a two-way street.
When managers emphasize hierarchy over empathy and understanding, workers leave. Prioritizing excessive demands and need for control over the welfare of employees can drive staff to quit.
