2022 ends with improved YOY healthcare job growth

Healthcare gained 54,700 jobs in December, ending the year with improved job growth compared to 2021, according to the latest jobs report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.  

Five things to know:

1. The December count is higher than the 44,700 jobs added in November and the 52,600 jobs added in October.

2. Within healthcare, ambulatory healthcare services gained the most jobs in December (29,900).

3. Hospitals gained 15,700 jobs in December, compared to 11,000 jobs added in November.

4. Nursing and residential care facilities gained 9,100 jobs in December, and physician offices gained 12,300 jobs. 

5. Overall, healthcare job growth averaged 49,000 each month last year, compared with a monthly average of 9,000 in 2021.
