Hawaii was ranked the No. 1 U.S. state for women’s equality, according to an Aug. 18 list from WalletHub.

The state was found to have no gap in the share of men and women in minimum wage roles, and women are slightly less likely to be unemployed than men.

WalletHub ranked states across 17 indicators of gender quality within three dimensions: workplace environment, education and health, and political empowerment. Each state received a weighted average across the metrics.

In the workplace environment category, WalletHub analyzed factors such as income disparity, disparity in the share of executive positions, unemployment-rate disparity and job security disparity. In healthcare, women hold the majority of entry-level roles but make up only one-third of C-suite positions, according to a report from McKinsey.
