A little over 4 in 10 recent or upcoming college graduates said they would exit a job interview process if the salary range was not disclosed, according to Monster.com’s 2025 State of the Graduate Report.

Monster surveyed 1,009 U.S. members of Generation Z — ages 18 to 24 — between March 4 and March 17.

Compensation is top of mind for Gen Z job seekers, with 62% citing salary is the most important factor when evaluating a job offer.

Flexibility is also a priority: Nearly 7 in 10 respondents said they are more likely to apply for remote positions, and 42% would not accept a fully in-person role.

Most respondents also said they would not apply to an organization with a salary freeze (83%) or one that had recently laid off employees (80%).

Healthcare is among the top industries of interest for new graduates, with 18% saying they plan to pursue a career in the field. Business was the only industry ranked higher, at 24%.
