Kindred Hospital South Florida-Hollywood, a subsidiary of Louisville, Ky.-based Kindred Healthcare, has opened a skilled nursing unit that will create 50 jobs, according to a South Florida Business Journal report.

Here are three things to know about the new unit.

1. It is a 30-bed, sub-acute care unit.

2. According to the report, unit beds are aimed at transitioning hospital patients back into the community as they recover.

3. Joan Fredella, executive director of the new unit, called it "a very tangible example of how Kindred continues the care from one setting to another," according to the South Florida Business Journal. She added, "We work in tandem with the hospital to ensure coordination between levels of care, improve clinical outcomes, and provide a smoother road to recovery for our patients."
