University of Vermont Medical Center (Burlington). A designated Blue Distinction Center for spine surgery, the University of Vermont Medical Center’s spine program was established in 1989 and today treats 8,000-plus patients annually. The hospital’s nine-member spine program team managed more than 430 spine surgeries in 2012. The University of Vermont Medical Center is also home to a successful division of neurosurgery consisting of eight providers who also participate in clinical trials through UVM Medical Center; currently, the medical center supports more than 1,000 active clinical trials across all fields of medicine.
