UC Irvine to Open New Hospital

The University of California Irvine Medical Center plans to open a new hospital, according to a report in the Los Angeles Times.

The new $566 million hospital will feature 191 private patient rooms with sleeping accommodations for guests. This number will grow to 236 as the hospital finishes its expansion in the next few years.

According to the report, the new hospital is designed to "convey a sense of healing" and is hoped to be a fresh start for the Medical Center, which has been plagued by scandal since 1995.
