Falls Church, Va.-based Inova Health Systems filed a certificate of public need with the state of Virginia to build a new full-service hospital in Loudoun County, according to a report in the Washington Business Journal.

Manassas, Va.-based Prince William Health System and Winston-Salem, N.C.-based Novant Health received approval from the Federal Trade Commission and the Virginia Attorney General to complete a merger between the two health systems, according to a PWHS news release.

The Upper Chesapeake Health System, which operates hospitals in Bel Air, Md., and Havre de Grace, Md., has announced plans to merge with the University of Maryland Medical System, according to a report by the Baltimore Sun.
