N.Y. senators to CMS: Policy decisions don’t reflect reality for rural providers

At the request of the Healthcare Association of New York State, two state senators signed and sent a letter to CMS to better consider the impact reform policies have on rural healthcare providers.

“Several policies remain problematic for rural providers and facilities, including the outpatient therapy supervision requirement and the 96-hour rule,” reads the letter. “We remain concerned these policy decisions do not reflect the reality of providing care in rural communities, and we request additional details on the consultation efforts in advance of future rulemaking.”

The letter was signed by a bipartisan group of 36 senators in all.
