HHS Provides Grants for Improving Public Health Emergency Response Systems

HHS announced that it has awarded 2013 funding to all 50 states, eight territories, and Chicago, LA County, New York City and Washington D.C. for improving response capabilities to public health emergencies.

The funds were awarded by the HHS office of the Assistant Secretary of Preparedness and Response through the cooperative agreements of the Hospital Preparedness and Public Health Emergency Preparedness Programs.  
 
Grants totaled $916 million, with $322 million going to HPP and $584 million going to the PHEP.
