The survey included Blue Cross Blue Shield, commercial, federal and state plans, among others. Here are five notable findings on health plan readiness from the results.
1. Nearly 75 percent had completed their formal impact assessment/gap analysis, up from 60 percent in an October 2013 survey.
2. More than 80 percent of plans surveyed had completed or nearly completed internal business process design and development, compared with slightly less than 60 percent in the 2013 survey.
3. Almost 75 percent of plans had started internal testing, up from less than half in last year’s survey.
4. About 20 percent of plans polled reported they plan to conduct external testing with most providers, while about 10 percent only planned to test with clearinghouses. The rest said they would test with a sample of providers. These results are about on par with the 2013 survey findings.
5. Half of the plans said they were moving forward at full speed with internal remediation efforts, despite the delay in the ICD-10 implementation date. Another 40 percent, however, said they were slowing their efforts.
