French Hospital Medical Center (San Luis Obispo, Calif.). As San Luis Obispo’s only nonprofit hospital, French Hospital Medical Center has served the community for almost 70 years. San Francisco-based Dignity Health acquired the medical center in 2004. In 2016, Truven Health Analytics named French Hospital to its 100 Top Hospitals list for the third time and Healthgrades ranked the hospital among the top 5 percent for overall pulmonary services. The hospital is currently undergoing a modernization and expansion program, including patient room upgrades and security enhancements.
