The payer said nearly 11,000 individuals enrolled in its Medicare Advantage plans in 2016, increasing the business’ membership to 125,000. While Louisville, Ky.-based Humana retains the most Medicare Advantage policyholders in the state, BCBS of Tennessee outpaced other insurers’ enrollment last year.
The insurer began offering Medicare Advantage plans in 2008, with most of its growth in the business occurring after it introduced a zero-dollar preferred provider option in 2013, according to the report.
