The majority of telemedicine adopters use the virtual service to connect with their established physician, according to a survey by the medical products distributors trade group Health Industry Distributors Association.

1. Offered to them by their physician: 53 percent

2. Offered to them by their insurance company: 28 percent

3. Found out about it on their own: 15 percent

4. Other: 4 percent
