Cardiologist Kishlay Anand, MD, and neurologist Swaraj Singh, MD, founded a telemedicine company, called Akos, in 2016. They are now launching its first practice, thanks to a $1 million investment funded through a team of 26 colleagues.
Akos connects healthcare consumers with board-certified physicians, who can provide diagnosis, treatment and prescriptions via smartphone or tablet consultation. The company charges $49 for a 15-minute consultation or $15 per month for a membership package, which will only charge $19 per call, Dr. Singh told Phoenix Business Journal.
Initially, the company will only provide care to Arizona residents. However, it plans to expand to 10 other metropolitan markets by spring 2018.
