Saint Anthony patients can now access specialists around the clock for the acute diagnosis and treatment of strokes within minutes of arriving at the hospital’s emergency department. Patients receive care through an on-site neurologist or through telestroke technology.
The telestroke program offers secured video conferencing and coverage from an on-site neurologist to give patients quicker diagnosis, treatment and hospital admission, if necessary.
“This close collaboration with Northwestern will allow patients access to neurology services that they might not otherwise have,” said Yvonne Curran, MD, neurologist at Northwestern Memorial Hospital.
