BCBS of Georgia rolls out maternity telehealth program

Atlanta-based Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Georgia implemented a telehealth program for expectant mothers.

Here are four things to know.

1. The program allows eligible mothers with State Health Benefit Plan coverage to virtually meet with lactation consultants.

2. Eligible mothers can connect with these specialists via smartphone, tablet or computer video consultations.

3. The initiative is part of BCBSG’s Future Moms program, which helps mothers access support from nurse coaches during and after pregnancy.    

4. The program was effective Jan. 1.
