Medline to provide product portfolio and strategic tools to more than 200 physician offices through new $9M prime vendor agreement

Physician offices nationwide seek vendors that can provide more than necessary medical supplies, but can help them track results and create efficiencies to achieve financial and clinical goals. Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, a Winston-Salem, N.C.-based fully integrated academic medical center, has signed a new $9 million prime vendor agreement with Medline.

Through this three-year deal, Medline, a global medical supplies distributor, will provide Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center’s 200 physician offices throughout western North Carolina with a robust portfolio of essential medical supplies that will better position the physician offices to streamline supply chain operations while simultaneously managing costs.

“For 12 years, Medline has been building a trusted partnership with Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center’s acute care facilities. Our ability to build a customized plan according to their product and clinical solution needs helped open the door to expanding the partnership at the physician level,” said Greg Smith, vice president of sales, national accounts, Medline. “In addition to receiving high-quality products, physicians will be able to utilize Medline’s online reporting tool called Medline INSIGHT, which can monitor key metrics such as item utilization, contract compliance, price accuracy and spend by product categories.”

Furthermore, as the timely delivery of products is critical to providing quality patient care, Medline’s distribution center in Charlotte will help Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center’s entities quickly receive products, when and where they need them.

“It is important for Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center to align ourselves with a supply chain partner that offers not only quality medical supplies, but also the resources that will help train our health care workers about new ways to think about their ordering patterns and how to measure outcomes. Medline provides Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center with quick, personalized service,” said Jonathan Kepley, associate director, Strategic Sourcing Department, Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.
