Mundelein, Ill.-based Medline has acquired Temecula, Calif.-based Professional Hospital Supply and all of PHS' related facilities, according to a news release.
PHS is a private distributor of medical and surgical supplies. It will continue to operate under its own name as a Medline subsidiary, according to the news release.
The combined sales of the two companies in 2012 were over $6.6 billion. The joint companies now have more than 12,000 employees worldwide, 40 distribution centers, 1,200 sales representatives, 19 manufacturing facilities and 350,000 medical and surgical products, according to the news release.
"Combining Medline's strong and growing portfolio of products and distribution network with PHS' superior customer relationships allows us to establish a new industry benchmark for superior quality, service and value," said Medline CEO Charlie Mills in the news release.
