Medical waste blamed for Georgia sewage spill

Medical supplies that weren't properly disposed of caused 2,700 gallons of sewage to spill near medical offices in Moultrie, Ga., local ABC affiliate WTXL reported. 

Moultrie City Manager Pete Dillard told WTXL the spill was caused by medical materials — everything from cleaning rags to adult diapers — being flushed down the toilet when they shouldn't have been. 

The medical supplies blocked a manhole and caused an unexpected spill in wetlands near several medical offices. 

No single facility was responsible for the spill, but the city is now working with local medical facilities to make sure they are properly disposing of their waste, WTXL reported.
