An investigation revealed the expedited battery drainage was caused by sulfation in the battery.
No reports of patient harm have been indicated, but if the battery completely drains, the ventilator will stop working.
Dräger is providing interim battery replacements free of charge to customers. Additionally, the company is developing a permanent battery replacement, which will also be provided free of charge once it becomes available.
