Contaminated pain relief cream recalled

Ridge Properties is recalling four lots of its 4 percent lidocaine topical cream and liquid gel products due to microbial contamination. The products also contained a higher potency of lidocaine than the label suggests.

The affected topical products are Pre-Tat, a numbing agent and topical anesthetic used before tattoo applications, and Soothing Sore Relief, a cream used to relieve pain associated with hemorrhoids and bedsores.

"The risks from a contaminated pre-tattoo product are greater since the skin is being traumatized immediately after application and tattooing is known to have infectious complications," the company's recall announcement states.

The products were distributed online via Amazon, Ebay, Walmart, TatBalm.com and Naturallyhl.com.
