Here are five things to know.

1. Amazon will build the air cargo hub at the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky Airport in Hebron, Ky.

2. The hub will bring more than 2,000 jobs to the area.

3. Once the hub is completed, Amazon will reduce its dependence on traditional carriers like United Postal Service and FedEx Corp, reports WSJ.

4. In 2016, Amazon shared plans to lease 40 cargo planes, 16 of which are currently in its fleet, according to the report.

5. The retailer’s ultimate goal is to directly compete with UPS and FedEx by transporting and delivering its own packages, as well as those of other retailers and consumers.
