9 Hospitals, Health Systems That Recently Changed Names, Brands

Here is a list of nine hospitals and health systems that in the past month have changed or announced plans to change their name, brand or both, beginning with the most recent announcement.

 

1. Children's Medical Center of Dayton Changes Name
The Children's Medical Center of Dayton (Ohio) announced its official name is now Dayton Children's Hospital.

 

2. Premier Health Partners Drops "Partners" From Name
Four-hospital, Dayton, Ohio-based Premier Health Partners is dropping "Partners" from its name.

 

3. Saint Mary's Health Care Changes Name to Reflect 2-Year-Old Partnership
Saint Mary's Health Care in Grand Rapids, Mich., and Mercy Health Partners in Muskegon, Mich., co-founders of Mercy Health, changed their names to better reflect their partnership.

 

4. Advocate Health Care Adds Sherman Hospital
Elgin, Ill.-based Sherman Health changed its name to Advocate Sherman Hospital, as it has officially joined Downers Grove, Ill.-based Advocate Health Care.

 

5. LSU's University Medical Center to Change Name With New Management
University Medical Center in Lafayette, La., will change its name to University Hospital and Clinics June 24 when Lafayette (La.) General Health takes over management of the hospital from Baton Rouge-based Louisiana State University Health Care Services Division.

 

6. Adventist Health's Tillamook County General Hospital to Change Name
Tillamook (Ore.) County General Hospital, a 25-bed critical access hospital, changed its name to Tillamook Regional Medical Center to better reflect its scope of services.

 

7. St. John's Lutheran Hospital in Montana to Become Cabinet Peaks Medical Center
St. John's Lutheran Hospital in Libby, Mont., announced its name will change to Cabinet Peaks Medical Center upon completion of its $32 million replacement facility.

 

8. UF&Shands Changes Name to University of Florida Health
Gainesville, Fla.-based UF&Shands changed its name to University of Florida Health to reflect its relationship with the University of Florida as an academic medical center.

 

9. Vanguard Health Chicago to Switch Name to UnityHealth
Vanguard Health Chicago, subsidiary of Nashville, Tenn.-based Vanguard Health Systems, will change its name to UnityHealth by the end of June.
