Shortest Average Physician Wait Time Increases More Than 1 Minute

The shortest average wait time to see physicians in the U.S. rose more than one minute from 2011 to 2012, according to Vitals’ “Physician Wait Time Report.”

Vitals analyzed patient-reported wait times from its database of more than 870,000 physicians. The shortest average wait time was reported in Alaska at 16 minutes, 28 seconds. Last year’s shortest average wait was in Wisconsin with 15 minutes, 26 seconds.

The state with the longest average physician wait time was Nevada at 23 minutes, two seconds.
