University of Chicago Medicine has launched an initiative that can reduce diagnostic timelines from up to three weeks to less than one week.
The program, called Biopsy Now, offers same-day breast and lymph node biopsies for patients with highly suspicious findings on mammograms or ultrasounds, according to an Oct. 16 news release from the health system.
Biopsy Now enables radiologists to directly initiate follow-up tests and schedule changes to accommodate same-day procedures, and adds a dedicated nurse navigator to support care coordination.
