Little Rock-based University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences has appointed Sanjaya Viswamitra, MD, as the Ernest J. Ferris, MD, Chair in Diagnostic Radiology.
Dr. Viswamitra joined UAMS’ division of nuclear medicine and body imaging in 2001 and served as its inaugural chief from 2002 to 2007. He was named inaugural chief of emergency radiology in 2023 and appointed chair of the radiology department in April, according to a Nov. 21 news release from the university.
The diagnostic radiology chair position is named in honor of Ernest Ferris, MD, who served as department of radiology chair for 31 years.
