The FDA granted clearance to Aidoc for an AI-powered triage tool capable of detecting 14 acute conditions from CT scans.
The tool combines 11 newly cleared and three previously cleared indications into a single workflow, making it the first FDA-cleared set of double-digit acute findings supported by a foundation model, according to a Jan. 21 company news release. Aidoc said the tool is designed to improve patient flow by surfacing critical findings earlier amid emergency department crowding and imaging backlogs.
In FDA-reviewed testing, the tool correctly identified urgent conditions in nearly all cases and produced far fewer false alarms than older, single-use AI tools. The system has analyzed more than 100 million patient cases.
