Press Ganey is inviting health systems to join Zero Harm 24/7, an initiative the patient safety and experience organization launched Feb. 2.

Zero Harm 24/7 follows a previous initiative Press Ganey set in March 2020 — Safety 2025: Accelerate to Zero, which sought an 80% reduction in patient and caregiver harm by 2025.

The new initiative aims to “accelerate progress toward eliminating preventable harm,” according to a Feb. 2 news release. Zero Harm 24/7 is designed to “embed safety and reliability into governance, leadership, and daily practice across healthcare organizations.”

In a recent survey of more than 1 million healthcare workers, nearly half of them reported a low perception of safety culture at their organization — “highlighting persistent gaps between leadership intent and front-line experience,” the release said. “Even modest improvements at that scale translate into tens of thousands of people feeling safer to speak up, engage and do their best work.”

Press Ganey will create a group of health system CEOs and board members to further shape how to govern, measure and implement safe practices with greater consistency across care environments.

Core areas of the initiative include governance, a culture to learning, transparency, partnership with patients and families, and other best practices in safety leadership, Press Ganey said.
