New Hampshire reports first flu death

New Hampshire reported the first influenza-related death of the 2019-20 flu season, according to ABC affiliate WMUR-TV.

An adult in Rockingham County died after contracting the flu, the state's health department reported. Flu activity is considered to be widespread in New Hampshire and 45 other states.

Nationally, the flu has sickened about 9.7 million people and killed 4,800 this season, which began late last September.

There have been 32 pediatric flu deaths in the U.S. this season. New Hampshire has not reported any child flu deaths.
