According to DMC research, 67 percent of people who come to Rochester every year are either Mayo Clinic patients or companions of those patients. However, patients, patient companions and the other visitors to Rochester all want similar things from the city, the research found: diverse dining and shopping, high-quality hotels and an “authentic community experience.”

Now, Mayo Clinic, the DMC initiative and the Rochester Convention and Visitors Bureau will work together and find ways to improve the experience for everyone who comes to Rochester.

Lisa Clark, the DMC Economic Development Agency executive director, told the Post Bulletin, “We are one of the few places that actually talks about the community working together with the healthcare organization. Patient experience in most venues right now is all about inside the walls of the clinical area.”

According to the Post Bulletin, the partnership could involve allowing Rochester businesses to use the DMC brand if they meet standards around providing high-quality experiences.
