To receive the designation, a breast center must demonstrate compliance with NAPBC standards for treating women diagnosed with the full spectrum of breast disease. The standards include proficiency in areas such as leadership, clinical management, research, community outreach and quality improvement, among others.
The NAPBC program is administered by the American College of Surgeons.
The Clark center was originally granted accreditation status in 2014, according to the report. It is unclear why the center lost its previous accreditation status. Under the standards outlined by the NAPBC, a breast center may reapply for accreditation if “all previously identified deficiencies [at the center] have been resolved and documented in the NAPBC Survey Application Record within 12 months from the date of the previous survey.”
