The tool requires providers to input their 10-digit provider identification number to view their MIPS participation status for 2018.
Physicians, nurse practitioners, clinical nurse specialists and other healthcare professionals must participate in MIPS if they bill more than $90,000 in Medicare Part B annually and provide care to more than 200 Medicare Part B beneficiaries.
CMS notes the tool does not reflect providers’ 2017 or 2018 participation in an advanced payment model. However, the agency expects to release an updated version of the tool this spring to reflect 2018 APM participation status.
