Sunil Arora, MD, chairman of emergency medicine at Community First, is one of eight physicians leaving. He told Crain’s Chicago Business the physicians are quitting due to safety concerns at Community First caused by supply shortages and staffing and equipment issues.

The exit of the eight physicians will be a setback for the 296-bed hospital, which has an estimated full-time equivalent of 12 ER physicians. Community First expects “no disruption” in ER services due to the physicians leaving, hospital COO Teryna Brown said in a statement to Crain’s Chicago Business.

Jared Marcucci, MD, has been named chairman of emergency medicine at Community First. He’ll take over for Dr. Arora after serving as assistant medical director, according to the report.
