Five updates:
1. EVALI cases have been reported in every state except Alaska.
2. Thirty-four deaths have been confirmed in 24 states, with the most deaths reported in California, Indiana and Minnesota.
3. The median age of deceased patients is 49 years, ranging from 17 to 75 years.
4. Most EVALI patients reported using products containing THC, particularly those obtained off the street or from other informal sources. The CDC says THC plays a major role in the outbreak.
5. The specific cause of the lung injuries is still unknown, with many different substances and product sources under investigation. The only commonality among all cases is patient-use of e-cigarette or vaping products.
