True Health Diagnostics calls for earlier lung cancer detection, smoking cessation: 3 things to know

To support lung cancer awareness month, Frisco, Texas-based True Health Diagnostics issued a call to renew efforts for smoking cessation and heighten awareness surrounding early lung cancer testing for high-risk patients.

Here are three things to know.

  1. According to Chris Grottenhaler, CEO of True Health Diagnostics, more than 480,000 smoking-related deaths occur in the U.S. every year.
  1. More than 16 percent of adults in the U.S. are active smokers and more than 21 percent are ex-smokers. Almost 80 percent of lung cancers cases are diagnosed after its spread to other organs, according to a news release.  
  1. True Health Diagnostics’ EarlyCDT-Lung blood test detects up to seven different autoantibodies in a patient’s blood, which can be indicators of the presence of cancer before a tumor is even detectable.
