The Utah Department of Public Healthis delaying the use of COVID-19 rapid tests at state-run testing facilities over concerns of false negative results, Fox affiliate Fox 13 Salt Lake City reported Feb. 6.
The move came after epidemiologists within the department performed an analysis of 18,000 GenBody rapid antigen tests and found only 38 percent PCR tests for asymptomatic cases and 41 percent for symptomatic cases were accompanied by a positive rapid GenBody test.
Officials are encouraging people who have received a negative result from a rapid antigen test result at a state testing location since Feb. 2 to return for a PCR test and to request an at-home test along with the PCR.
