More than half of North Dakota nursing homes freeze admissions amid staff shortages 

A survey conducted by the North Dakota Long Care Association found that 57.6 percent of the 200 nursing homes surveyed in the state have frozen admissions because of staffing shortages, The Dickinson Press reported Oct. 26.

In addition to the admission freezes, some facilities have closed while others have reduced occupancies.

Tanya Schnabel, finance director at Wishek Living Center in Wishek, N.D., told The Dickinson Press administrators are waiting for federal regulations on a vaccine mandate to be released before deciding how to manage with potentially even fewer staff members.
