Here are seven health systems recently opening or expanding rehabilitations hospitals and units:
- Eau Claire, Wis.-based HSHS Sacred Heart Hospital and Birmingham, Ala.-based Encompass Health partnered to open a new 36-bed rehabilitation hospital inside the HSHS campus.
- Fort Myers, Fla.-based Lee Health is involved in a $10.4 million project to add capacity at its Surfside Medical facility in Boynton Beach, Fla., adding 15,000 square feet to the outpatient complex to offer specialists in fields such as rehabilitation.
- Birmingham, Ala.-based Encompass Health and Knoxville, Tenn.-based Covenant Health are opening a new 51-bed inpatient rehabilitation hospital in Knoxville.
- Tulsa, Okla.-based Ascension St. John Medical Center and Birmingham, Ala.-based Encompass Health partnered to open the Ascension St. John Rehabilitation Hospital of Owasso (Okla.).
- Select Medical Corp and Atlantic City, N.J.-based AtlantiCare announced plans for a new rehabilitation hospital.
- Pittsburgh-based UPMC Children's Hospital opened a new rehabilitation unit with 12 private rooms.
- Dallas-based Reunion Rehabilitation Hospitals is opening four new inpatient rehabilitation hospitals in Arizona, Texas and Florida.
