7 systems opening, expanding rehabilitation hospitals

Here are seven health systems recently opening or expanding rehabilitations hospitals and units:

  1. Eau Claire, Wis.-based HSHS Sacred Heart Hospital and Birmingham, Ala.-based Encompass Health partnered to open a new 36-bed rehabilitation hospital inside the HSHS campus.

  2. Fort Myers, Fla.-based Lee Health is involved in a $10.4 million project to add capacity at its Surfside Medical facility in Boynton Beach, Fla., adding 15,000 square feet to the outpatient complex to offer specialists in fields such as rehabilitation.

  3. Birmingham, Ala.-based Encompass Health and Knoxville, Tenn.-based Covenant Health are opening a new 51-bed inpatient rehabilitation hospital in Knoxville.

  4. Tulsa, Okla.-based Ascension St. John Medical Center and Birmingham, Ala.-based Encompass Health partnered to open the Ascension St. John Rehabilitation Hospital of Owasso (Okla.).

  5. Select Medical Corp and Atlantic City, N.J.-based AtlantiCare announced plans for a new rehabilitation hospital.

  6. Pittsburgh-based UPMC Children's Hospital opened a new rehabilitation unit with 12 private rooms.

  7. Dallas-based Reunion Rehabilitation Hospitals is opening four new inpatient rehabilitation hospitals in Arizona, Texas and Florida.
