The recall includes both losartan potassium tablets and losartan potassium hydrochlorothiazide tablets.

The recall is due to the presence of N-Nitroso N-Methyl 4-aminobutyric  acid, a potential human carcinogen. Torrent already recalled three lots of losartan on March 15 and 114 lots of losartan on March 1.

Torrent’s recall is the latest in a string of voluntary recalls by distributors and drugmakers related to a class of drugs known as angiotensin II receptor blockers, used to control blood pressure. The recalls are related to the detection of various cancer-causing impurities.
