Many hospitals and health systems are expanding their pharmacy footprints this year to improve medication access and care coordination.
Below are seven pharmacy openings Becker’s has reported on so far this year.

St. Charles Health System, based in Bend, Ore., opened a community pharmacy in Madras, Ore., in May.
MetroHealth System, based in Cleveland, opened its 12th retail pharmacy in March, located at the Brooklyn Health Center in Ohio.
Yale New Haven (Conn.) Health opened its sixth retail pharmacy, located at Bridgeport (Conn.) Hospital, on April 1.
Indianapolis-based Eskenazi Health opened a $10 million pharmacy central fulfillment center in early March.
Avita Health System, based in Galion, Ohio, opened a retail pharmacy in Crestline, Ohio, on Feb. 24 after the town’s only pharmacy closed.
Kennett Square, Pa.-based LCH Health and Community Services opened its first on-site pharmacy in February.
Hartford (Conn.) Healthcare opened a retail pharmacy at Backus Hospital in Norwich, Conn., on Jan. 21.
