5 hospitals debut new pharmacies

In recent weeks, several health systems and hospitals have opened new or expanded pharmacies.

1. OhioHealth Van Wert Hospital completed its $3.15 million pharmacy expansion project Sept. 17, doubling the facility’s size.

2. On Sept. 5, Cleveland Clinic announced the opening of a new community pharmacy at South Pointe Hospital in Warrensville Heights, Ohio. The system now operates 27 retail pharmacies. 

3. In August, Bandon, Ore.-based Southern Coos Hospital & Health Center opened a retail pharmacy inside its multispecialty clinic. 

4. After a nearby Hy-Vee closure, Eastern Iowa Health Center in Cedar Rapids expedited its two-year plan to build its own pharmacy. The health center opened the new pharmacy in August. 

5. WellSpan Waynesboro (Pa.) Hospital recently completed renovations on its inpatient pharmacy. The project involved expanding the suite from 1,100 to 1,700 square feet and converting the IV room into a compounding suite.
