Medicare Advantage premiums to fall 23% next year, CMS says

Premiums for Medicare Advantage plans are slated to drop 23 percent from 2018, CMS said Sept. 24.

CMS said premiums will be at their lowest since 2007. The lower premiums come as plan choices for Medicare Advantage enrollees increase. There are about 1,200 more Medicare Advantage plans active in 2020 than in 2018.

Open enrollment for Medicare Advantage begins Oct. 15. CMS projects 24 million Americans will sign up for a Medicare Advantage plan in 2020.
