The state expects to save more than $184 million during the expansion’s first year. Of new enrollees, more than 24,000 have already visited a provider for preventative care.
“The primary goal of expansion is to ensure better health outcomes for the working poor of Louisiana,” Gov. John Bel Edwards (D) said, according to the report. “Early data show that expansion is working, and our people are getting the healthcare services they need.”
New enrollees numbered 250,000 on July 15.
