Humana drops Greenville Health System from Medicare network

Louisville, Ky.-based payer Humana severed ties with Greenville (S.C.) Health System for its Medicare Advantage health maintenance organization plan, The Greenville News reports.

About 6,000 policyholders will need to find alternative plans or providers effective Jan. 1. GHS said it was not informed about its exclusion from Humana's Medicare Advantage HMO network until July and was unable to negotiate, according to the report.

Humana said it is open to resolving a new Medicare Advantage HMO contract with the health system.
