Health insurance agencies accused of false marketing of BCBS, Kaiser plans

Several Florida health insurance agencies are being accused of misleading consumers into purchasing plans they thought had full benefits but didn't, according to a July 27 lawsuit.

The lawsuit, filed by California-based McLaren Insurance Solutions and Maxim Health in a California district court, accuses several entities — including ABS Healthcare Services, Health Option One and My Agent Solution — of false advertising. All the agencies are headquartered in Deerfield Beach, Fla.

The agencies allegedly led customers to believe they could purchase comprehensive health insurance through health insurers like Blue Cross and Blue Shield and Kaiser Permanente but instead directed customers to a limited benefit plan, according to the complaint.
