Under the agreement, Kentucky’s actuarial firm will give Kentucky Spirit Health Plan — a Centene subsidiary — an “immaterial” cash payment.

The dispute arose in 2012 when Centene pulled its Medicaid contract for 140,000 Kentucky residents effective July 5, 2013. The payer said Kentucky did not release pertinent information regarding its deal with Centene. The state and Centene have since agreed no “party acted in bad faith, that they took reasonable positions in light of the applicable contractual language and that the parties acted in good faith in attempting to address a difficult situation,” a Centene statement reads, according to the report.
