Beginning Jan. 1, BCBSM policyholders with self-funded employer plans who select the benefit can participate in a SmartShopper Program. The program will award members up to $250 in cash when they shop for and receive care from a high-quality provider at a lower cost.

SmartShopper is integrated with BCBSM’s provider search tool, allowing members to view out-of-pocket estimates for a procedure while they shop.

Types of procedures available for this cash-back incentive include MRIs, mammograms and colonoscopies. Members don’t have a limit on the number of cash rewards they get each year.
