Fishersville, Va.-based Augusta Health has yet to finalize a deal with Anthem BlueCross BlueShield, according to a News Leader report.
Augusta Health first notified Anthem it planned to terminate their contract in early October. While the two sides made some headway on smaller agreement terms since then, "a couple of big issues" remain, Augusta Health Vice President and CFO John Katsianis told the News Leader. The parties' rate negotiations are still "double digits" apart.
If Augusta Health and Anthem fail to negotiate a new contract, Anthem policyholders will no longer be able to access Augusta Health's hospital and Augusta Medical Group physicians at in-network rates after Dec. 31 and Jan. 31, 2018, respectively.
