5 updates on 'Medicare for All'

Here are five updates on issues surrounding "Medicare for All" proposals published by Becker's Hospital Review since July 15.

1. 'Medicare for All' unlikely to increase hospital use, study suggests
Proposals to cover Americans under a "Medicare for All" system wouldn't result in a net increase in hospital use, according to a study published in the Annals of Internal Medicine.

2. Seema Verma is 'deeply concerned' about 'Medicare for All,' public option
CMS Administrator Seema Verma believes "Medicare for All" and public option healthcare plans presented by Democrats are "equally dangerous" for the American healthcare system, she said July 22 at a summit in Washington, D.C., for Medicare Advantage.   

3. The 2020 Democratic candidates who want to keep private insurance under healthcare reform
Eighteen Democratic presidential candidates want to keep private insurance under any healthcare reform.

4. AHIP CEO outlines the insurance industry's fight against 'Medicare for All'
America's Health Insurance Plan's CEO spoke about how the industry trade group is pushing for more incremental changes rather than a "Medicare for All" policy that would eliminate private insurers in an interview with The Hill.

5. Viewpoint: Will 'Medicare for All' affect 401(k) investments?            
It is too early to tell how a "Medicare for All" policy could affect healthcare stocks and, in turn, 401(k)s, the founder and executive chairman of Fisher Investments wrote in an op-ed for USA Today.
